Holy Cross Lutheran Church is
a Christ-centered family of faith gathered for worship, spiritual
growth, and service
to our Lord. We are located in
Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, in the
tri-state region of Sioux City, Iowa. Members also come from the nearby
South Dakota communities of North Sioux City, McCook Lake,
Jefferson, and Elk Point, as well as from Iowa and Nebraska.
Holy Cross is a member congregation of the
Lutheran Church–Missouri
Synod. |

Holy Cross is a growing congregation, founded as a
new mission in 1995 as part of the newly established master-planned
community of Dakota Dunes. The initial phase of our building,
now the Educational Wing and Fellowship Hall, was constructed in
1998. Attendance has more than doubled since 2003, and in 2007
we rejoiced to dedicate a beautiful new
Sanctuary to the
glory of God. We pray this visit to Holy Cross via the Internet is a blessing for
you, and invite you to visit us soon in Dakota Dunes and consider
becoming part of the Holy Cross family of faith. You are always
welcome in this house of God. |

SUNDAY BIBLE CLASS ON “SPEECHLESS: SILENCING THE CHRISTIANS” BEGINS JANUARY
3—Because of great interest in the video series we used last fall for Midweek
Bible Study by those who are unable to attend in the evenings, beginning January
3 we will repeat this same interesting study in our Sunday morning Adult Bible
Class. Featuring real-life accounts of discrimination against Christians,
“Speechless: Silencing the Christians” is a DVD series looking at current social
and cultural changes from a Christian perspective. You’ll meet citizens who have
been arrested for speaking at a public rally. You’ll hear from students who have
been required to learn verses from the Koran (while Bible reading is banned).
You’ll learn about activists pushing social tolerance to such an extreme that
the Bible is being labeled “hate speech.” A mother in Pennsylvania is told that
reading a passage from the Bible to her son’s kindergarten class is against the
law. Instead, she is encouraged to read a book about witches. A Canadian pastor
faces a hate crimes tribunal for writing a letter to the editor of his local
newspaper: a chilling precursor to what Americans will face if similar laws are
passed. Each week we will begin with an episode from this series as a
springboard for discussion, with a look at the Biblical principles for us to
follow. Our thanks to Carroll and Janet Gustman for donating this DVD series.
Join in Sunday mornings at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall for an interesting
study of this contemporary topic! |
